Diana Ahmedi

This concept is inspired by women in Afghanistan—their reality, silence, and strength. As an Afghan born and raised in Norway, I experience the country with both distance and belonging.

After visiting Afghanistan several times, I carry memories and emotions that have shaped me. My works bring forward the voices of women and girls who are not heard. Through symbolism, the themes become clearer and more personal to me throughout the process.

Connection to Groruddalen

I grew up in Groruddalen, and the area has always felt like home to me. Many of my childhood memories are rooted here—from playing in the streets to growing up in a diverse community with people from many cultures. When I return after traveling, I feel a particular sense of calm as soon as I approach the valley, a reminder of belonging and safety.
