Rune Hatledal

Rune Hatledal (b. 1968) grew up at Vestli, at the top of Groruddalen, during the 1970s and 80s.

The motif is from Lukedammen, up by Gjelleråsen, where we happened to end up after getting lost on one of the forest’s many trails. In the 1960s, this was a bathing spot, but today it is almost overgrown. The remains of a small firepit and old beer cans recall gatherings and parties from earlier times.

 

Perhaps it was simply my state of mind that day, but there was an uneasy atmosphere at the site—almost like a premonition of what lies ahead.

 

We did not swim.
