Lova Hiselius
Lova Hiselius (b. 1997, Stockholm) is a visual artist based in Oslo. She holds a BFA and MFA from the Oslo Academy of Fine Art and works primarily with painting and installation. Through phenomena such as the Shadow, the Ghost, the Imprint, and the Reflection, she investigates the encounter between presence and absence. Her works depict how emotions such as fear and longing can take material form within an imagery where the boundary between reality and imagination is constantly shifting.
“Restless Leg”
Restless Leg (2024) is a portrait of an everyday object that has lost its function. The idea for the motif lingered for a long time until, after a long day in the studio, I scraped together the leftover paint on my palette and tore off the nearest piece of baking paper to quickly sketch down the chair with its restless, kicking leg. Instead of being a tool for rest, the chair in the painting has absorbed the restlessness of the last person who used it.
Connection to Groruddalen
From August 2025, I will have a studio in the new studio complex Romsås Senter 1 (formerly the Old Romsås Nursing Home), provided by the City of Oslo through the Agency for Cultural Affairs. In the years ahead, I look forward to looking out (and in) from my window onto the center and becoming part of daily life there—holding the elevator door for each other on the way to and from the metro, at the swimming hall, in the morning or evening rush, waiting in line at the grocery store, all of it.
