Biography

After completing my degree at the National College of Art and Design in Oslo, I worked for many years as a freelance illustrator. I have created illustrations for publishers, newspapers, magazines, and public institutions, and through this, I have learned a great deal about conveying visual content to different kinds of people and contexts.

In recent years, I have devoted more time to my own art projects, particularly printmaking. I work mainly with woodcut—a technique that has deep roots yet feels highly relevant today. I appreciate that it is a craft-based and sustainable method, where I work with natural materials such as wood and water-based inks, and the prints are often produced in small editions. For me, this makes woodcut both timeless and at the same time very relevant in an era where both art and society are concerned with ecological responsibility.

A recurring theme in my images is water. I am fascinated by how water moves, how it behaves in different surroundings, and how light creates ever-changing expressions as it strikes the water’s surface. The work Outdoor Shower is part of this exploration. Water is in constant transformation, and it is precisely this that continually offers me new stories to tell.

CONNECTION TO GRORUDDALEN

My connection to Groruddalen is through Norske Grafikere’s Printmaking Workshop at Kalbakken, where I am a member. The workshop is run by artists and has long played an important role for printmaking in Norway. For me, it means a lot to be part of an environment where I can both immerse myself in my own work, develop professionally, and at the same time share an inspiring community with other artists.
