Bjørn Hatterud
I am queer, disabled, and from a working-class background, raised in the countryside and now based in Groruddalen. My main interest lies with marginalized and underrepresented people—outsiders, misfits, and originals—as well as subcultures, countercultures, and underground cultures. I have been working with sound art and experimental/extreme sound since 2002. In addition, I curate various exhibitions and occasionally write books.
Connection to Groruddalen
I live in a high-rise at Tveita, where I have been for two and a half years. Before that, I spent thirteen years in a high-rise at Bjerke. I rent a sound studio and writing space at Shoddyfabrikken by Ammerud. I have also written a nonfiction book about living in Groruddalen: Blokka på Bjerke – 13 år i tredje etasje (Samlaget, 2023).
My sound work “analbrusenteret”
I am contributing a sound piece of just over 13 minutes. It is noisy and at times exhausting, but colorful and blooming within all the chaos. The raw material consists of found sounds from online videos, my own field recordings, and music I have programmed. Sometimes it’s nice when things are a bit ugly, I think.
