ART NIGHT - ARTIST TALK

with Annette Halvorsen, Eli H. Eines, Martin Bjørnersen og Jan Hakon Erichsen

The first evening of Art Night was hosted by Dag Blakkisrud from Eckbos Legat. We were introduced to four of the artists from ØSTUTSTILLINGEN and their works in the exhibition.

Martin Bjørnersen, one half of the artist duo Gul Sol, presents the work Premiekryssord Hjemmet 25 in the exhibition. During the artist talk, he also introduced the musical work that forms part of the installation.

Jan Hakon Erichsen spoke about the video work Project Sylteagurk, in which he explores creativity through everyday objects, excessive destruction, and unconventional actions as both method and expression.

“By crocheting the B-block at Tveita School, I wanted to give this suburban school in Groruddalen a sense of value.”
– Eli H. Eines

Annette Halvorsen exhibits the woodcut Outdoor Shower, in which she explores the expressive qualities of water. She applied to the Open Call because she is a member of Norske Grafikeres Verksted in Kalbakken and was curious about the art community in Groruddalen.

Eli H. Eines has a strong connection to Groruddalen as a first-generation suburban child. She applied to the Open Call with her three-metre-long crocheted work Tveita School B Block. For many years, Eli has crocheted buildings from Groruddalen and is fascinated by how architecture can affect us as human beings.

For her, a building is like a garment you put on — or that is pulled over your head. It can feel comfortable or uncomfortable.

Thank you for an inspiring Art Night and engaging conversations about pickles, outdoor showers, crosswords, poetry, music, and a crocheted suburban school.
