Things are starting to happen in Romsås: from being a suburb with visions of an “Italian village” to becoming Groruddalen’s new art destination.
Behind the development is, among others, Ferd with its art program and investment in local initiatives — which has resulted in the GalleryLab gallery (formerly a kiosk) and the new art exhibition Østutstillingen 2025 for artists connected to Groruddalen.
- A young artist from the area, Diana Ahmedi, describes how the neighbourhood gives her a sense of belonging and calm — something that might be just as important as the district’s “hip potential.”
So yes: “Now it’s only a matter of time before the hipsters discover this place.”
