About us

A new exhibition SPACE for contemporary art

GalleryLab is a new exhibition space for contemporary art, in collaboration with established art institutions on Oslo’s art scene. GalleryLab aims to encourage broader participation in the artistic conversation, inviting more parts of Oslo to share their perspectives in order to create diversity and enrich viewpoints. Each time a new work is shown and a new voice is heard, the city’s artistic self-understanding and the pulse of the present are strengthened.

The first collaboration is with the long-established Kunstnerforbundet, where the focus is on artists from Groruddalen. Other collaborations may emphasize bringing art shown in the city center out to Romsås. As the name suggests, the exhibition space is a combination of gallery and laboratory, with the ambition of presenting art that embraces the familiar, the experimental, and the unexpected. GalleryLab is led by the Ferd Art Programme and originates from Ferd’s Oslo Initiative, established in 2022.
